Talas - High Speed on Ice
I had the luck to have a heavy metal DJ roommate in college, so I had the fortune of having seen this version of Talas in a fairly small club outside Milwaukee in the dim mists of the 1980's. It features one of the most amazing bass players I have ever heard, Billy Sheehan. He plays a four string bass like Eddy Van Halen plays guitars.
Saw them do this one at the club. The fact that the drummer was able to sing was also amazing.
Here's a 10 minute bass solo for your enjoyment. It's kind of the bass player's response to Van Halen's Eruption:
