“Girl Groups” is a defined term referring to vocalist groups comprised of women from the early ‘60s. The Shirelles, The Ronettes, The Crystals, The Shangri-las, etc.

to the Supremes and beyond but I also liked this song more than I liked the band overall. They had one or two other songs I liked but this was the one that caught my attention.

Well, I see from the comments above that I didn't quite get it so...

My favorite Go-Go’s (not a “Girl Group”, see earlier post) song is We Got the Beat...

Neither are The Supremes lol, they came later.

from what I recall. That vid is from '65 but I remember hearing them a year or so earlier. I'd say they were among the last.

I saw The Ronettes perform Be My Baby during a Murray the K show at the Paramount Theatre in NY before it was released. They weren’t even The Ronettes yet, they were known as “Murray the K’s Dancing Girls” at the time. Gloria Steinem must have had a heart attack! (I can’t say I’d blame her.)

If you want to hear more Ronnie Specter, she still sings from time to time. She did a few duets with Joey Ramone that were simply amazing. Darlene Love is awesome too.
