Johnny Cash & Joe Strummer - Redemption Song

So, for the record, this is my favorite country artist ever and my favorite punk rock artist ever, covering a folk song by my favorite reggae artist ever. Music is universal, if you accept it.

This is a great, great song. An anthem really. Thanks for this rendition! And perhaps see inside.... somaticexperiencing Jul 2020 #2

I may pick up some haters on this version. I saw it originally playing over some footage of islands off the coast of China that were feeling imperiled by our great dictator.

Enjoy it or not, this version shows the lovely jazz basis for this great, great song.

Enjoy. And let's redeem!!!!!

I read the lyrics, listened to Marly singing it

Who might be the prophets?

Anyone maybe have a line-by-line breakdown?

Have to admit your post is the first time I've heard this song. Like all good ones, it resonates on many levels

I listened to Cash singing this just after reading about the latest federal attacks in Portland and the murder of Judge Salas' son and severe wounding of her husband. Thecforces that previously worked in some secrecy amidst average white Americans now feels free to operate in the open!

The battle for 'America's soul' has now viciously and brazenly landed at our very door!
