Deborah Harry's solo albums were great too. I'm so glad I made the effort to get them back then.

Peer pressure made me deny it for a short time in high school -- Judas! -- but they were talented!

we can go admit to liking music that would make everyone else around go, "Ewwww." and call us posers or something.

No cred lost in my book. Even I like some disco.

... until the Reagan years came along.

Edit: I was still a dumb kid back then, so I could be wrong about any general optimism. That's probably just how I felt!

didn't really hit until the later part of the 80s. That's how GHW Bush got caught by saying "Read my lips. No new taxes". Once he was in office, he looked at the deficit and saw that, in fact, taxes had to be raised.

The end of the Cold War was looked at with optimism. Who would have thought that Russia would trade in communism for oligarchy.

Their music makes me happy. Unless it's one of their sad songs. The sad ones make me wish I could go back to my teenage years and start over again. Young love.

I associate it with the Mt. St. Helen's eruption.

This is a great thread. There's nothing to be ashamed of.
