One wonders what it would sound like on a 12 string with the top E bass string missing. guillaumeb Sep 2017 #7
I saw her play at Wintergrass in Feb - She deserves it. cemaphonic Sep 2017 #3

but the bass seems to get lost in the playing. There is no high drone sound.

I have tried claw hammer style on my uke.

I kind of like what she does. Instead of the high drone she alternates between the three lower strings and plays them with a consistent snap. It's pretty busy but I like the contrast between the fingernail hammering and the bass snapping. It might be interesting to hear it on different guitar types with different setups.

I do like the percussive effect. I have a very cheap 6 string that I use for percussive sounds. The action is quite high which allows me to attack the strings more than with my regular guitar.

Incredible guitarist, and turning into a pretty great singer as well.

Her cover of "White Freighliner Blues" really shows off how damn fast and fluidly she can play when she gets going.

Seems like a really nice person too. During one of the songs of a pretty short (6 songs or so) set, they brought up an 11-year old girl to play a few breaks on guitar and share the spotlight with her band of Nashville/Berklee pros. I got to talk to her a bit about banjo stuff after the show.

New Grass Revival always included White Freightliner Blues in their live shows. They were the first ones to supercharge the TVZ original. I like what she does with it.
