I'm not aware of anyone else who plays clawhammer style on the guitar.

I have tried claw hammer style on my uke.

(1,613 posts)I kind of like what she does. Instead of the high drone she alternates between the three lower strings and plays them with a consistent snap. It's pretty busy but I like the contrast between the fingernail hammering and the bass snapping. It might be interesting to hear it on different guitar types with different setups.

(42,641 posts)I do like the percussive effect. I have a very cheap 6 string that I use for percussive sounds. The action is quite high which allows me to attack the strings more than with my regular guitar.

(4,138 posts)Incredible guitarist, and turning into a pretty great singer as well.
Her cover of "White Freighliner Blues" really shows off how damn fast and fluidly she can play when she gets going.
Seems like a really nice person too. During one of the songs of a pretty short (6 songs or so) set, they brought up an 11-year old girl to play a few breaks on guitar and share the spotlight with her band of Nashville/Berklee pros. I got to talk to her a bit about banjo stuff after the show.

(1,613 posts)New Grass Revival always included White Freightliner Blues in their live shows. They were the first ones to supercharge the TVZ original. I like what she does with it.
