The Story Behind The Beatles' "Hey Bulldog"

The Beatles’ “Hey Bulldog” has become a revered rocker in recent years, but that wasn’t always the case.

Although it first surfaced on the fairly unpopular Yellow Submarine LP in 1969, it has since appeared seemingly everywhere - from handpicked compilations of the band's best rock songs, to the Rock Band video game.

From its fairly simple recording in one day to its rise as a not-so-deep track, this video offers a comprehensive look at the now-classic Lennon tune.

It's long been one of my favorite Beatle songs. Paul's Rickenbacker bass is absolutely stunning. No one else was playing bass like that at the time. We always picture him with the Hofner hollow body bass shaped like a violin. He played that one live because of it's light weight, but most of his studio work was on the Rick. The fact that he was originally a six-string player really comes through on this song when he plays with a pick.

Worth putting it up on the great big screen.

What a treat to have some new Beatles stuff to grok on, after all these years . . .

You should check out YouTube for "new Beatles stuff".

I've been a Beatles geek for around 30 years- I think I've heard every bootleg that's out there in the world. When I was in my late teens I'd spend $50-$100 every week for unreleased Beatles, U2, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and REM vinyl and CDs. These days I occasionally share them on Dime a Dozen and a couple of other trading torrent sites on the Internet. I'm thankful those sites exist today- so many gems can be found on them.

I listen to a Beatles program every Sunday in NYC and the host knows Trump and said a couple of times on the air that he was playing Hey Bulldog for his golfing buddy, Donald Trump. (This was a few years ago.)

Just listen to the music.

In my world Trump has nothing to do with any song written and performed by the Beatles.

P.S.

I doubt the story is true- Trump and his "friends" are liars- You should know that by now.
