Have you heard Aretha Franklin's version of The Weight? That's Duane too.

(29,339 posts)Duane was studio on Wilson's "Hey Jude"? Anything is possible and makes sense. I am getting back into Motown after an extended time in the San Francisco Sound.

(13,498 posts)According to Clapton, that cover of "Hey Jude" is why he wanted to work with Duane in the first place. Of course that idea became Derek and the Dominoes and one of the best rock albums of all time
In Greg Allman's autobiography "My Cross To Bear" he writes about Duane getting gigs in Alabama at the studios around the town of mussel shoals - He was amazed because Duane couldn't read music.
Getting ready for that session Duane listened to Hey Jude and Wilson Pickett's singles nonstop for a few days and just played it by ear.
He never learned to read music, but could play anything, with anyone
One of the big reasons The Allman Bros were what they were
