Lucinda Williams (Live), Car Wheels on a Gravel Road tour, 1998, Austin City Limits

Lucinda at the peak of her glorious powers, touring her Masterpiece, with a CRACKING band bringing the songs to life ... she plays nearly all of Car Wheels, and the selection of older classics she chose to mix in to the set was spot-on ... this concert is STELLAR ... absolute must see for all music fans ...

The links to 'Playlists' of Youtube vid's doesn't post right on DU (only the first song will auto-play), but if you just click This Here that'll queue up the entire set of 16 songs ... and you can thank me later. I have the actual DVD and the sound is much better than Youtube, but, this is what we got, doesn't sound BAD at all but the real disc ... sounds freaking KILLER

I get to learn about stellar music I've never heard before and this old rock queen loves it! The good politics I expected, but this is such a nice additional feature.

If you've never heard the Car Wheels on a Gravel Road record, you really should. It's cliche to say 'every song is great', but it REALLY is true in this case.

In this particular set, songs 2-7 (Metal Firecracker through Lake Charles ... which is IMHO the best song of the collection, it's just a stunningly great song about the loss of an old friend) are all from Car Wheels, as are 4 or 5 others in the set like Still I Long for Your Kiss, Jackson, Joy, and Can't Let Go.

Car Wheels is truly a top 10 of all-time album for me, and I've heard 1000's of albums ... and this live performance of it, along with some of her older great tunes like Passionate Kisses, Changed the Locks, Something About What Happens When We Talk, Sweet Old World, and Pineola ... it's just brilliant.

this group has eclectic tastes, and overall a fine set of ears

Even the posts about genres I don't generally listen to are worth a listen.

And now when I play it I remember why I love it so much.

One of the best of the '90's. I saw her at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels in April of 2016. Just amazing.
And she dissed Trump before endorsing Bernie. Kick ass.

I think a lot of the Car Wheels songs are even better here (though they're extremely faithfully rendered) they just freaking NAIL it in this show. Joy in particular kicks major ass live.

I revisit Car Wheels at least 1 time a year in entirety for like 20 years now. Great driving music, while at the same time so friggin' poignant lyrically. In fact, a number of these songs have brought tears to my eyes on numerous occasions, they're so achingly beautiful. Jackson being a great example. And I know every word to every song, to this day.
