He was an absolute master of that instrument.
Here's a familiar one on which his solo is masterful.

at the late great Johnny D's in Somerville, MA. There had to be 8 or 9 instruments arranged in a semicircle around him. Each one seemed like a part of him. Sad to see him go.

(one of which the club manager swore he brought along 'about 40 different guitars' - although I never saw that number) But I think he mastered just about everything that runs on strings.

I thought El Rayo-X was killer (unfortunately, despite a lot of lobbying, never really got the enthusiastic agreement I thought was due from the crowd I ran with. philistines!)
