(24,393 posts)Well, I now know where Canned Heat got their "Goin' Up Country" song from....but lyrics are completely different. Hope they gave this guy some credit in their discography.

(26,403 posts)Thomas's song was called "Bull Doze Blues," which was totally ripped by Canned Heat. The version I posted above was a clean version that showed the lineage.

(24,393 posts)Lot's of 70 musicians did give credit to the folks that created their music. Jorma Koukonen/Hot Tuna, David Bromberg, the Grateful Dead, amongst many others.....but to rip off a song and replace the lyrics with your version without credit, that kinda sucks.

(2,399 posts)I don't know if the estates of Robert Johnson or Memphis Minnie ever saw a dime from them. Their thefts were brilliant but thefts nevertheless. Canned Heat's rip off of the song in the OP didn't really ad anything of value the way Plant and Page did with their uh, interpretations.
