Obviously, there are things that need to be fixed! But I did want to show all of you what I was able to accomplish (with AndyS' help!).

(9,708 posts)My eclipse photos always come out dark red.
I probably underexposed a bit.
Good stuff.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,534 posts)I have a exposure compensation wheel on my Olympus, which allows me to fool around with the color.
I am told that getting an underexposed photo is way better than overexposed. With overexposed, you loose the color completely; it's gone! With underexposed, it's still there; you just have to mess with the exposure a bit. This is my understanding, anyway.
I'll have a look at your photo in just a moment!

(2,268 posts)Thank you for sharing. I cant really complain, because we really need the rain, but I was sorry to miss the eclipse. Now I havent missed it entirely!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,534 posts)Rain is super important to us here in CA too. And we aren't getting nearly enough, plus we squander so much water as well.
I hope you'll see more professional photos than mine! This was the first time I'd really tried to get such a shot. I had a lot of help from a good friend. I'm in his debt!
Thank you for your kind comments!

I did a crappy job on this one. I won't be sharing it.

(149,534 posts)I am sorry you didn't do well (in your eyes, anyway.) Andy helped me quite a lot, as did my realization that I really did need my tripod!
I cannot hold the camera steady enough for these slow shutter speeds. Ah well. Anything to get the photo!

(9,088 posts)Driving south on the 405 we could see the brightness of the moon reappearing. It was my most memorable eclipse. It worked out because my nephew chose to have his wedding in Culver City.

CaliforniaPeggy
(149,534 posts)I was really happy about the color too.
November, you say? I will be better prepared than I was last night.
