So many of us photographers are confined by the inherent literal interpretation of what lies before the lens. We now have the same freedom of expression that any of the touchstones in other media have used for a millennia.
A paraphrase of Picasso (I think) when answering a 'challenge' to his style, "I like my art more realistic" as he shows a photo of his wife to the artist. "Really? She's so small and flat . . ."
