One very tough robin.

I've been surprised to see this robin hanging around our bird feeder over the past week or so. He lands in the branches and just hangs out until the chickadees get their fill, then swoops down and takes his burn. Robins don't usually turn up here until April when the ground starts melting and the earthworms come to the surface, and I've never seen one at my feeder before. This seems very strange to me given that we've had the coldest January on record and twice as much snow.

Anyway, he looks like he's doing fine.

Nice! Sad that the more common birds are underappreciated - quite lovely colors. NRaleighLiberal Jan 2012 #4

Our Robins in Raleigh never leave us - on those warm winter days, they swarm in the woods and scratch for worms in the leaves on the ground....and make a racket!

which is being really optimistic this year all things considered.

I'm happy to report, though, that it has warmed up to 15, which feels absolutely balmy, and we got a couple more inches of snow overnight. Hopefully, we'll be out of the deep freeze for a while.
