Bumblebees and apartments, rear view

Both shots used the Olympus EPL-1 and Sigma 30mm 2.8. The camera can be bought for $200. When you want to get into prime lenses, the Sigma 19mm and 30mm can be found for around $150 each. They are cheap and good lenses that are sharp from edge to edge, and return nice colors. They are a good first step into quality prime lenses.

The Panasonic G5 can be bought for around $350, if you want a camera with a built in view finder, DSLR style body, and articulated LCD. This is a newer camera with more megapixels and faster auto focus. You can grab a prime lens when you are ready to go that route. Both this and the above camera will deliver great images.

You don't need the latest and greatest to take good photos. A good solid camera is all you need.

They were moving slower and tended to rest on top of flowers.

I don't need the greatest, but I sure do want the new Ricoh GR.

my 1st when I started posting on DU was a Pentax; I loved it! about $300 and it got me excited enough to keep taking photos...
partner bought me a Canon soon after and I gave the Pentax to my daughter... now I go between a Canon and my Olympus; love them both. Canon is big and heavy though, not for casual jaunts

how the camera felt in my hand. The Nikon and Minolta seemed too big.

The Oly I have is a tough act to follow, it got so many things right. The Ricoh and the Fuji X100 are the only ones that have really caught my eye.
