Where did you get an owl house? Is your property out in the country? How is it attached to the tree?

And where the heck are there green leaves on the trees? I want to move there....right now.

I guess I don't want to live where you are. Or more specifically, I couldn't afford it. I lived in Houston for several years, and Texas is too danged hot in the summer, although Austin is wonderful. But 70 sure does sound nice to this snow-bound frozen PA resident.

are they just big giant bird houses? Do owls favor certain kinds of trees?

lacking the formidable eyebrows of the GHOW. Barn owls have a heart shaped facial disc. Maybe a young screech owl. Where is this located?

All we have around our house in the Texas Hill Country are bats. We have caves in the area and the damn things roost here in the thousands.

It took me 15 years, but I was able to get a pair of screech owls last summer and they had four babies! They were a pure joy!

Congratulations!

The ones I had were dark brown. Funny thing, they didn't nest in the screech owl house in the backyard, but in the titmouse house in the front. It wasn't big enough for all, so one parent slept in a nearby holly tree.
