(60,071 posts)Maybe if you have a way of adjusting the temperature of the image, you can try that.
It's much easier than making a new layer then adding a color and then adjusting the opacity.
BTW, youtube has all kinds of tips about all aspects of photography.

(60,071 posts)balance, and sharpening. The biggest problem is doing too much to an image. It took me a while to learn when enough is enough, and if I can't get it right in short order, it isn't right.

There are many free photo editing programs. Do you have a PC or a Mac? What Operating System do you use?
Photobucket does let you make a color photo a B&W photo. You can find it under effects after you click on the photo and then Edit.

So, you DON'T have Windows 8. Windows Live Photo Gallery is free for Windows 7. I don't know if you can transform a color photo to black and white in it though.
