A couple of days ago, I was able to visit the Upper Antelope Valley in AZ...photo heavy!

It's a slot canyon, where the rain and flash floods have penetrated the sandstone. The water has carved out these amazing shapes. I hope you'll enjoy my pictures!

4. Beautiful. Try converting the third one to black and white.

I bet it would bring out some nice textures and shades.

5. Thanks! When I get home to my desktop, I might try that.

It is a fantastic place, and as the word gets out, it's getting more and more popular. If you can go, do it in the off-season.

8. Not sure if I will ever go out west again. BTW, use the blue channel in the mixer, or

some preset filters in your software.

What an incredible place. It seems like you might get a little claustrophobic though? Well the photos are well worth it!

12. Thank you, my dear ljm2002!

It was truly incredible.

Luckily, I don't normally feel claustrophobic. And this is open to the sky, being a slot canyon. So you can see out, even if only a little...

10. How can this be is what I asked

when I first saw photographs of Antelope Canyon. then I was actually fortunate enough to see it, with a tall old Indian guide, and it knocked my socks off.

You are showing it so beautifully. Thank you for these. Every morning I say sometimes, Antelope Canyon and Glen Canyon and the entire Lake Powell area call my name.
I want to go back in this very lifetime.

14. I am so glad, my dear Mira, that you have been there...

And thank you for your kind remarks!

The word is getting out about this remarkable site, and the crowds are growing. I lucked out with the 3 PM tour; there were only 11 of us plus our very knowledgeable guide.

He helped me and several other people get better images than we would have otherwise. It was a great time!

I hope you get to go back. It was very strenuous for me, since I am in poor shape. Plus walking in all that soft sand is difficult. But I took many pictures, so I don't need to return...

16. Thank you so much, my dear ohheckyeah!

It's funny. People generally don't visit the famous sites when they live nearby. So now that you've moved away, you must come back to visit!

I hope you can do it. The site is phenomenal.

I'd rent an RV and travel back to Arizona with a lot of stops on the way - particularly in New Mexico.

29. Yes, there are places to stay nearby. We stayed in Page.

IF you can do it, go in the off season. The word has gotten out about this wonderful place, and summers are full of tourists. I was lucky in that the group I went with had only a few people. There can be hundreds in the canyon at any given time.

I also picked an off-time, 3 PM. The sun doesn't shine directly down into the canyon then, and most people want to see that. I was willing to sacrifice that option in order to have as few people around as possible, and it did pay off.

Good Luck!

31. gorgeous photography Miss Peggy! There's a video on You Tube, I think it's called

canyon puppy, it's about a young man who went into Slot Canyon so far down that it was almost totally dark... and there he found a puppy that some cruel person had taken down and left. it could hardly stand up it was in such bad shape... the story is uplifting and has a happy ending!

38. you weren't by any chance

The lady I insisted ride in the front of the vehicle that took us back from the canyon to the waiting area? She and I talked about all the places she'd lived and how they were all very sunny and warm. Regardless, I know you and I walked by each other at some point because I was there from 1:30 to 4. I missed my 12:30p reservation due to a construction shutdown and ended up having to take the later slot. What a small world.

39. Alas, no, that wasn't me.

My guide had suggested that I ride in the cab but I could not get up those steps. So I rode in the back. It was OK.

I'm sure we did walk by one another! Small world indeed.
