Last edited Wed Oct 8, 2014, 04:19 PM - Edit history (1)

who has been working over the pumpkin on our front steps since I brought it home from the market
at the end of September! I thought I'd already decided on my October texture photo--but I have another one of
this guy that is making me think twice about my previous decision!

Check out this damn squirrel:

I haven't seen any other pumpkins out in the neighborhood attacked like this.

Last year I threw our "used" pumpkin off the back deck. Both the deer and squirrels happily ate up the pieces
when it broke open and rolled down our naturalized hill. I wonder whether this squirrel has been waiting all year for the next pumpkin to appear
in our yard!

Your squirrel is working hard to make you a masterpiece.

You are gonna laugh at this, I put one pumpkin out under the Maple tree in my backyard where I spoil them with raw peanuts, black sunflower seeds and ears of corn, these Florida squirrels didn't want any part of that pumpkin.

Your squirrel is an artist, he may give you a winning photo girlfriend!

the front steps or a railing. I've never had any of them touched by squirrels or deer or birds.

Last year I tossed the pumpkin off our back deck after Halloween, where it broke into pieces on our naturalized hill.
The deer and squirrels happily ate quite a bit of it.

I'm wondering whether this squirrel remembered the taste, shape, look of that pumpkin, and has
been waiting for another one to appear. It's the only reason I can think of why, all of a sudden,
it's become squirrel food. No other pumpkins in the neighborhood are being nibbled--from what I can see--
while out walking the dog.

and I just got an e-mail back that it's going on the list to be published.

This will be the fourth one of my shots to be published this way--and the second
one of a squirrel!
