played with my new camera today

dad got me an olympus stylus xz-2 (if that means anything to anyone, i just know it's neat), so i bundled up and headed out on the trail near the apartment to see what i could get. i can't wait to play with it some more.

the creek

a memorial along the trail

further along

made it down to the river

so not too bad with all my layers. there was a large gaggle of geese on the ice that i wanted to get a shot of (thinking of you) but, despite my best ninja impression, they must have heard me and all took off.

the snow well. A lesser camera would have blown out the highlights bigtime.

Good photos too.

It has a good bright lens that should give you more latitude when shooting indoors.

It's a handsome camera too. I see you can change the grip. That's a good feature.

but i was really happy overall with how it handled how bright it was yesterday (i thought i was going to go blind at points).

i'd been wanting a camera for some time, so that's what i asked for as my gift this year and i knew my dad wasn't going to half-ass it. great side benefit is that i'll start getting some exercise on my excursions.
