the weather is glorious and i didn't take advantage of it friday or saturday, so i had to get out today. i can usually appreciate the stark beauty of winter, but not today, so i wasn't out very long. this is from another leg of the trail along the river. the local raptor rescue has a few birds at the park, but, between the sun and chain link, i didn't even bother trying to get pics of them.
used one of the artsy filters for this one
I really like the filter!

(130,755 posts)Lots of folks on the roads today, as the weather here is quite springlike, mid-40s.

(46,436 posts)You have about as much snow as we do.
the snow's been melting off, but we got a fair bit the last couple weeks. it's been a very mild winter, so it was a shock. you guys haven't had much of a winter, either, from what i've heard.

(46,436 posts)The ceremonial start of the Iditarod yesterday was pretty sad. They had to bring in truckloads of snow to cover the 8-mile trail here in town and it was a sloppy, slushy mess. All the mushers are driving up to Fairbanks today for the restart, so we don't even get the joy of seeing the real start.
And, of course, now that a lot of my flower beds are uncovered, we're supposed to get a week of near zero nights, very bad for the perennials. Thank goodness I had the foresight to pile on a lot of mulch last fall, but I'm still a bit concerned.

(90,758 posts)I got an expected but needed breather on moving, so I'm not as rushed. That helped a lot.
