Bird on a wire (updated with new image)

Last edited Wed Jul 8, 2015, 10:09 AM - Edit history (1)

This Hawk was out calling to its mate this morning, I could hear the other hawk responding but couldn't see it. I've seen them around from time to time and hear them quite often, this the first time I've had the camera to hand in quite a while though.

Vivitar 300/5.6 @ f8 Sony NEX C3 1/1600 @ISO 1600

ETA: Since so many liked the Hawk pics I found one more salvageable image on my card and worked on it last night, I'm putting it first.

Thanks for all the positive comments and recs, I appreciate it.

10. They have a basilisk stare that's kind of unnerving in person

For me it's easy to see Hawks as flying predatory dinosaurs.

14. There's good hunting here for a raptor, a neighbor found and killed a rattlesnake last week

I saw a red tailed hawk flying last year with about three feet of snake dangling from its talons and we are overrun with squirrels.

18. Nice shots!

Love raptors, in flight or at rest they are beautiful birds and you captured this one well.
