Can anyone give me the Cliff notes on why some of these presumably professional cameras are so expensive?

Why $6500 for a D5? What is it that justifies the cost? A huge sensor? What?

...changes to the 810 but that's the way it is. Been looking at the new Sony mirror less ar7 II (not sure of the name)

Still, my D5300 does a nice job
