(19,459 posts)It is always fun to photograph the bridge. It takes on many moods, depending on the weather.

(130,864 posts)I think I need a wide angle lens, and others. I could never get the shots you get, Adsos.

(19,459 posts)I don't own any expensive lenses. I used a Nikon D7100 with Tokina 11-16mm DX for this image, then corrected things in Lightroom. Mother Nature and the guys who designed/built the bridge did all the heavy lifting.

(19,459 posts)I was in the first slot you could pull in to, so it would be the furthest place away from the fort.
19mm equivalent wide angle.
Looks like this rain will go through the week.

(19,459 posts)This was last night around 5:00-5:30ish. There were a couple of other photographers out there.

(19,459 posts)It is the sister, in design, to Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor. The thing was obsolete at its completion.
The fort building itself is open only on weekends during the off season (now). Pretty cool inside.

(31,382 posts)That fog is something else. So San Francisco.
I like the first shot with the chain barrier and how the Bridge disappears into the mist just
a little more than the second shot.
Adsos Letter
(19,459 posts)The second one got almost all of the love from my friends on FB, and while I like it, I don't like it as much as the first. The first one has better sharpness and less distortion than the second.

(18,219 posts)Both are great, but I just love the top photo. I think it is the colors, or lack of color in it. With all the fog, it seems right.
Adsos Letter
(19,459 posts)My friends on FB preferred the bottom one. I think it has more drama, but I think the top one is a better image.

(19,459 posts)These images look across the Gate toward Marin County. Open ocean is to the left of the bridge; The City is off to the hard right, out of frame, on this side of the bay.
I parked about 1/4 mile from the fort, and used a wide angle lens. I think the pinpoints of light across the bay are from either Fort Baker, the Presidio Yacht Club, or Sausalito.

(86,534 posts)I was thinking of the other end of the bridge and the place most pictures of the bridge are taken... right?
I have been over the bridge several times but never stopped to enjoy it. It's nice to have that foreground for something new to add to the bridge's image.

I love the energy of both!
