Is that in Texas? Adsos Letter Sep 2016 #5
Yes. It was the original 6 Flags Corp, as I recall, started about 1960, grew from there. jtuck004 Sep 2016 #7
We actually liked it better when it wasn't totally a ride based theme park. Adsos Letter Sep 2016 #8
I know. The old parks had a human element the new ones never will. jtuck004 Sep 2016 #9

The company my wife works for had a Company Day at Six Flags. They closed it to the general public and we had the run of the place.

Not mine, but your shots made me think of what that sits on top of. This is from one of their old post cards...

I meant to add that I really like that angle - I had never seen one of those up close underneath. And I liked how you switched to b&w.

This place is in Northern California. It used to be Six Flags/Marine World. We used to take our daughters there when they were little to see the Butterfly House, etc.. They got rid of all of the animal stuff several years ago and turned it into an amusement park. Lots of big coasters.

I shouldn't have assumed it was the same one, though those coasters are everywhere, as is 6 Flags now.

They used to have a great butterfly house, and lots of animal exhibits.

For some reason, incorporating such things now is just viewed as too much liability, too costly.

I personally think their accounting is backward, and it costs too much not to. But that's just me.

Certainly has a little of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" feel to it

I noticed it as we were leaving the park. The focus isn't as sharp as I would have liked because neither the lens nor the camera body have image stabilization, which can make things a bit trickier at night.

I bought my first really nice lens, the Nikkor 17-55mm DX. I tend to lose more shots because neither the lens nor the D7100 camera body have any image stabilization; however, I really like the image quality straight out of the camera. I shot these in JPEG rather than raw, and did practically no editing to them in post.
