Better weather, more patience, different angle...and a more willing subject. Not seeing any babies yet.

Will follow yours, as I can't see mine!

(31,464 posts)As long as the neighbors don't mind me standing in their driveway i should be good. It's a small town, so I shouldn't have a problem. I found a few new places to shoot, but the best place seems to be driving down a private driveway. I'll pack the car with fresh-baked cookies and beer and make deals.

Am concerned I won't be able to SEE the babies (they're osprey,) but just hear them.

(31,464 posts)It's close enough to the water than I might get a good view from the lake -- but I'm seriously afraid to bring my DSLR in the kayak. The GoPro won't do it. Haven't done a kayak trip yet this season, water is still a bit low and very cold, but I think we might be in for a good show in a month or so!

(130,126 posts)tho a friend does so often!
My house is on a small peninsula between river and creek, and the nest is over the creek. Here's a pic of the pair on a tree at the creek, after they'd just returned from their southern 'home,' before, apparently, eggs laid:

(31,464 posts)I've had some great experiences with nesting ospreys on Cape Code. Friend's house was a few hundred yards down the beach from a nature preserve. We walked down the beach kicking up bio-luminescent creatures on the beach when osprey's started swooping at us! Like, they were really upset, shrieking. Looked up and they had a big nest very close to us. They did NOT want us nearby.

(130,126 posts)I'm glad 'mine' just 'greet' me and eachother; haven't been swooped upon yet! I do whistle at them, so I think we're friends.
Here's the nest. This was last year, and NOT my dslr, which is new. Creek in the background.
