It was the night she also bought tickets to a performance of The Joffrey Ballet. I remember I had Trout. It arrived at the table, head in tact. The waiter looked at my face and asked if I'd like him to 'take care of it'. I nodded, and he did. It was a delicious meal and such a memorable night.

Years later, I took my niece to The Berghoff for lunch, when we had time before we had to catch our connecting train. She was SO impressed - just like I had been, years before. It meant the world to me.

Hopefully I will be able to take my grandniece there, too, some day. That would put an eternal smile on my face. I'm smiling, now, just remembering.

I think people look at the Submission line on the main Photography page and see 14 replies so maybe think there are plenty of entries. I know I was surprised when I opened it and found there were actually only a few. So I dug out an old shot of my dining room.

It doesn't have to be a restaurant, either. Could be a picnic blanket in a park, on the bank of a river, your back yard. It would be good to get a few more entries.

Do you know we used to, in the older days, have 30 entries (the maximum) every single time within days? I'm disheartened about the paucity of interest, even in a theme as easy as this one.
A number of us die hard photo group members have attempted to get to the bottom of what the problem may be, to not much avail.
Thank you for entering - will now go look at your photo.

Drag the picture you want to post onto your desktop. Sign up at https://postimages.org/login (free)
Up top left click on Upload. A window opens with 3 lines.
First line says "default" That is the name of your folder. Just leave as is and you can add to that later.
Next line is "do not resize" Click for dragdown menu and select 640x480 (for message boards)
Next "expiration date" just leave that alone
Click Choose images. A menu of your desktop comes up and you double click on your picture. Or drag and drop it in the box.
After you picture uploads there should be a number of lines with links. If not find the word Share and click on that to bring those up. Select Direct link and it highlights. Copy it and then paste it into your post here.

It's super easy and a lot of fun to be able to post pictures If you run into anything you don't understand, just ask.

Also, since you can delete posts it is easy enough to experiment.

When I announced the theme of the May contest in a previous OP, I indicated that it could be many things other than a restaurant, as you suggest. I forgot to include that in the Submission OP, and will edit it now.

I'm holding submissions open until the 24th, and allowing photogs to enter twice, if they wish.

Thank you for entering!

It puts me in mind of the dish we had in the Hofbrauhaus, Munchen, along with two the gigantic mugs of beer. When we hopped on our train to head to our next stop we promptly fell asleep. I woke screaming at my sis-in-law to wake up, as we were at our stop. Unfortunately, we weren't, and the next train to our stop was hours later. When we finally got on a train, it was so full we stood between cars all the way to Heidelberg.

Fun times.

I was stationed in Amberg for 13 months back in the mid-70's, and I loved the local cuisine, and THE BEER!

I remember Tucher, Rothenburger Landwehr, Spatenbrau, Pauliner...I LOVED that stuff.
