The mansion was completed just prior to the Civil War; the owners were slaveholders, and this was the route house slaves took to get to the different levels of the home.

Have you been to Bellamy Mansion? I don't think it's too far from you, and well worth a visit. Wilmington is a lovely city.

It is considered one of the best examples of Greek Revival architecture in the U.S.; unfortunately, I didn't get any really good shots of the exterior.

On the second image, I thought maybe the shelf, or whatever, distracted a bit.
I took a sheet of paper and just barely covered it.
The result was astounding.
Give that a try, it's amazing.
