(19,459 posts)I've got some nice photos of my wife and girls there on a Mother's Day a few years ago.

(19,459 posts)The place we enjoy going is Huntington Library and Gardens, in Pasadena.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,562 posts)A very different style; not at all modern. Henry Huntington built it and he and his wife lived there. They also collected a lot of art!
Wonderful place!

(2,166 posts)Especially the labyrinth in the pond--is it walkable, or just decorative?
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,562 posts)I haven't walked down to that pool in a while, so I'm not sure, but I think it's purely decorative. It sure caught my eye!

(2,047 posts)And cool that you could see the Ocean from there!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,562 posts)On a clear day, you can see the Ocean. I knew it would be a great view since the winds had been scouring the basin.

(149,562 posts)No matter what exhibit you come to see, the place is wonderful and BIG. Bring your comfy shoes!
The exhibit we saw is closing in a few days, but they always have wonderful shows.
I'll get the link.

(149,562 posts)LA is just full of amazing sights. I don't really do them justice.....
But I have fun trying!

(537 posts)... the effect it had on traffic during the construction years!
I was commuting to UCLA from the valley, for the entirety of its construction.
Needless to say, they aren't fond memories.
(But great photos, they do remind me of my visits there too.)
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,562 posts)I can imagine.
With it right next to the 405, it must have been a nightmare.
I'm glad you have some good memories of your visits too, and that my photos reminded you of your own good times.

(14,889 posts)Looks like Brentwood Getty would be a place that I'd like to visit!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,562 posts)It is a beautiful, expansive, wonderful place!
They have all kinds of exhibits.
We love going there. Admission is free, but you have to pay for parking.

(149,562 posts)I'm so glad you enjoyed these.
I hadn't noticed the cherub's face in its belly, but now I have! Amazing.

(22,380 posts)To me the Getty Museum is one of my most favorite places ever. I love going up in the rail knowing the trees are treated with flame retardant. I love the carrara marble (did my kitchen floor in a strike off design because of the Getty) I love the wonderful walks and the labyrinth and of course all the art. Makes me want to fly to LA. Had a 3 x 4 foot collage on one of my bedroom walls of photos I took there.
Seriously. You pulled my string, and I stifled myself now, I also love the huge stag beetle bug by Dürer on the wall of the staircase.

(149,562 posts)I had no idea you'd been out here!
It is an amazing place. We are so lucky that we can drive up and park and walk around.
I will look for Durer's stag beetle bug the next time we are there.
And the next time you're here, please let me know! I'd love to have you visit.
