Peggy asked to see photos - here are some

I went to see two exhibits yesterday, close to each other, in my downtown district. Both artists are friends of mine, kitchen table kind of friends, and I am very proud of loving them and their work.
When I hinted that if you asked I would show you some photos of the art on display, Peggy did ask.
So this one, California Peggy, is for you.

Lea Lackey Zachmann, my friend and neighbor

Trees and plants have been a subject of Lea Lackey-Zachmann's visual study for years. "Trees and Garden Beings" consists of drawings and sculptural paintings showing plants in her garden and nearby trees. It is hoped that the exhibit will present the plants and trees in such a way that the viewer will see them as the unique beings that they are as well as gain a new appreciation for them.
“ I was in my yard and thought that the tree was as living being. We take trees for granted. We don’t believe they are as much alive as we are.” Ziggy Marley

Do you also have photos of the uncolored line drawings of plants? I think there were 3 of them. Backgrounds of yellow and green. Also maybe one of purple/blue? I thought those were super-extraordinary.

I tried to take photos of the work you mention, but the lighting was such that it created reflections because the mylar used kept moving. The movement is part of the charm of the pieces, but it does not allow photos that are worth posting.
I'm glad you got to see them, we have a wonderful, art-filled city.

The photo you took at the top of this topic really captures the vibrance of the colors. It's a shame, but not entirely surprising, that mylar reflections prevented getting photos of the 3 garden drawings. They're like something out of da Vinci's journals.

All of them are extremely beautiful and thought-provoking.

These amazing artists are fortunate to have you as a kitchen-table friend! And vice versa, of course.

Stunning works! They enrich anyone who is lucky enough to view them and to absorb what they're telling.

Again, thank you!

Thank you for liking what I posted and what the artists did. The first one, Lea's work, is in my living room, and has been for many years. She was still affordable when I bought it.
The second is in my workshop and is a photo Owens took at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the crossing of the Pettit bridge in Selma. He gave it to me.

I always feel how much any kind of art enriches us! Especially personal art that belongs to us and lives with us in our homes.

How lucky you are to have such friends!

And they are lucky to have your great appreciation.

Thank goodness this isn't a contest because every single piece is stunning. Thank you Mira for sharing.
