2. Thanks for your thoughtful post, my dear Chin music. And, You're welcome!

Photography regularly helps me to think about something other than the nightmare we're experiencing every day.

13. Ah,

I have the Tamron 18-400mm myself for my Canon Cameras. It seems okay, but I think I was happier with my Sigma lenses.

15. Ah, you have it too!

If I may ask, what made you happier with the Sigma lenses?

I am quite happy with mine, though I might not know as much about lenses as you.

17. Don't confuse me with a professional or even a good photographer

but, I found the Sigma to be a bit sharper. Could just be me as other hobbies and interests have left the camera sitting in it's bag more and more of late.

I bought the Tamron for the additional zoom, but now kinda wished I had kept the Sigma. I still have my Sigma 150-500mm and it did great for the eclipse a couple of years ago. I hope to replace it with a 150-600mm at some point in the not too distant future.

18. This is very sharp and clear! Wow!

We saw that eclipse too but my photo was not as good as yours. There was a tiny bit of smoke from the Canadian fires that obscured the sun. We were in Madras, Oregon.

Here's my best eclipse photo from Madras:

And my diamond ring photo:

I hadn't expected to get this, so I was screaming when I realized I had!

19. Those look great

and you should be happy as a clam to have taken them.

We were in my Mother In Laws backyard in South St. Louis County. Originally we planned on going to Union, MO but the heat, humidity were partial deciding factors, that the rest of the family had taken off and kinda left the MIL out of their plans was another major factor.

I had a friend come in from AZ with two telescopes with solar filters. They tracked the event and I just eyeballed the changes his scopes were making and adjusted the camera on a tripod. It was just dumb luck.

20. Thank you! Believe me, I am very happy to have gotten them.

You obviously think well on your feet, having done what you did on that occasion! I had been tutored by a local photographer, who set up my F-stop and shutter speed in advance. All I did was watch through my right-angle view finder and snap away with my remote cable.

It was so exciting! I plan to attend the eclipse in 2024, somewhere.

21. We are hoping to do the next one as well

looks like we will head to Carbondale, IL as I know someone who runs a business there. At least that's the plans for now, but things could easily change. We are all retired and that's still a few years in the offing.

27. Well, thank you! I don't think these photos qualify as fractal, though.

I've seen fractal art and they don't look anything like my photos. I'm curious as to why you said that.
