Upside down and sideways and...open!

From my street side walk with Snowy this afternoon.

I have been here in October when the Monarchs were migrating a number of times and it's always a challenge to get shots of them. This is the same butterfly and I just happened to bring my camera on the walk with me because I wanted to take photos of some of the signs naming the various beach houses. Serendipity!

These are just to die for!

Every one a winner, for sure.

Great serendipity!

No glasses and holding the dog's leash in one hand while telling her to "stay"! Snowy has been my photo buddy for a lot of years now. She's really pretty good about standing still to let me shoot...most of the time!

I couldn't believe the butterfly stayed on the flowers for so long, crawling through several positions. It was just like a model moving through different poses. Many of the Monarchs flutter about quite rapidly and rarely open their wings fully for long while perched on the flowers.
