This is a California Poppy and they are always gold. It's also our state flower and I love them!

6. I had no idea!

I used to live in Kansas, where the state flower is the sunflower, and they grow wild there. Drive anywhere in the state in the summer and chances are you'll see gazillions of them.

Haven't been to California in essentially forever (other than to change planes or trains) but maybe I'll get to pay a proper visit again sometime soon, and if I do I hope I think to PM you and ask where I should go to see the glorious yellow poppies.

7. We often grow them in our sunny gardens.

There are numerous places to see them. One is the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve. Acres and acres of them!

Google the park's name to get full info. There are other places but I don't remember their names. Google is your friend!
