I have found it extremely difficult to photograph my crows. They are so wary and skittish. Now we placed our birdbath where I can see it from inside the house and finally captured these beautiful birds! They come late every afternoon for a drink and often to wet some small bit of food they have.

(8,876 posts)I would have used a D750, but had set that camera up for bracketing in an attempt to capture the ISS, so for this I used my Df. As for lens, I'm all about the long reach, this is a Nikkor 200-500 with TC20 2X. For small birds I would be at 1000mm, but these guys are big and this was shot at ~400mm

(6,640 posts)Wonderful thing to see. Also was sitting in the yard once and a crow was making a purring sound in a tree nearby.

Ill love the winter plumage of Starlings. When the light hits them, they become beautiful.

(17,149 posts)And have a pair nesting nearby who bring their young down for a feed. They call me first!
They really get a bad rap from horror stories and movies but in reality they are shy, intelligent birds. Our Aussie native wattle birds and noisy miners give them a really hard time.
Great pic. Thank you for posting.
