(1,309 posts)Taken from a kayak--they are not overly timid around kayaks if you are just sitting there parked by some tall grass. I have a few more of him but I like this one since it's head-on.

(16,288 posts)When I see a photo of a wood duck, it's usually a side view.
I can see details here that I never noticed before, like the white flecks in the breast area, the details of the bill markings, and the orange "eyeliner." Very cool!

(1,309 posts)High praise coming from you! Between the kayak and the zoom lens, some good shots are possible. There are a lot of wood ducks on that river.
