In Japanese the Moon has three words. Getsu, Gotsu, and Tsuki. (Pronounced: Sue-key)
A pictograph of a crescent Moon behind the clouds .
(Those two lines). The interesting thing about the moon kanji is how often it shows up in other kanji and brings the meaning or nuance of night to it.
