I got a new super wide zoom -- not new but new to me -- 7-14 f4 (14-28 35mm eq) and found myself in downtown Fort Worth. I was at the old county court house (old but still active for county functions) and snapped a few.
Nice pic but I wasn't that happy with the perspective, a bit too extreme for me, so I switched the Perspective correction function on in my OMD. That allows me to modify the image in-camera to correct the extreme perspective for a more natural appearance more closely matched to what our brain perceives.
Details: OMD EM1 mkii, Zuiko 7-14 f4 at 7mm, ISO 200, 1/640 at f11, Perspective correction applied in-camera.

(12,568 posts)In the good old days of film I had a Nikon lens that did that, but this is much better and easier to do.
Now, does your camera have a correction feature to make me look thinner?

(14,559 posts)When I left college my camera kit was a 4x5 Calumet view camera, an RB 67 and two OM 35mm bodies with lenses from 21-300mm. My camera bag was a VW Bug.
I did perspective correction by keeping the camera level and raising the lens on 4x5.
About the only thing digital can't do at this point is the Schiemflug pricipal; laying the plane of focus horizontal instead of vertical, but I'm sure it's coming.

buildings to shame. A lot of artistry and craftsmanship
went into the construction of the older buildings for sure.

(14,559 posts)We don't seem to have time for that kind of fine detail anymore.

I love my ultrawide lens. It's always in my bag.

(14,559 posts)It's all in that dreaded "Olympus menu system" that intimidates even the most ardent fanboy. There's stuff buried in there!

(3,155 posts)but I don't think it handles perspective.

(14,559 posts)3" screen. I suppose if you're sending the image via cell phone directly to an editor that could be important tho. Canon has had an edge on that type of interface for awhile and the new stuff is going to get better.
