Cosby Show actor mocked for working at Trader Joe's gets role in Tyler Perry show

'COSBY' STAR GEOFFREY OWENS ACCEPTS OFFER FROM TYLER PERRY for a 10-Episode Run

http://www.tmz.com/2018/09/07/geoffrey-owens-tyler-perry-accepts-offer-episodes/

Geoffrey Owens is about to get a hell of a lot of screen time thanks to Tyler Perry -- he's accepted the mega producer's offer for an acting gig -- and it's a big one!

Owens, who starred on "The Cosby Show," was recently photographed working as a cashier at Trader Joe's. Geoffrey was shamed by many for the cashier job and Tyler reached out via Twitter, saying, "I'm about to start shooting OWN's number one drama next week! Come join us!!!"

Sources familiar with the deal tell us joining Tyler is exactly what Geoffrey will do. We're told he's going to appear on Perry's hit, "The Haves and the Have Nots." Even bigger ... it's not a one shot deal. We're told he'll have a recurring role and appear on 10 episodes.

The show -- on it's 6th season -- shoots in Atlanta, and we're told Owens will fly there next week to begin filming. As for his salary ... that's unclear, but working one job is always better than two.

Yes, I realize the source is TMZ, but I'm so happy for Geoffrey Owens.

That shit about him working at Trader Joe's was just sick. He had a job. So what? Do they think that once you have a job in entertainment you are in the money or are sure to always work in entertainment? He was just a working guy like any of the rest of us.

I was amazed that some of the same people who shame those without jobs would shame him for what job he had. My son's are musicians. Unless you are a BIG name most have to work something else at least now and then.

Shaming people for working a job. It never ceases to amaze me.

way as actors? Good for him. If you are not the biggest star there need to be other ways to make your way. It sounds like he worked many jobs and did what he loved as often as he could. I believe most of us would have shook his hand and said hello.
