Actor Neal McDonough says he lost a job because he refused to do a sex scene

Actor Neal McDonough says he lost a job because he refused to do a sex scene:
'It was hard for a few years'

There is a reason audiences don’t see actor Neal McDonough, who has appeared on shows including Arrow and Justified, in love scenes. It’s his wife of 15 years, model Ruvé Robertson.

In an interview with Closer, McDonough spoke about his stance on such scenes and how it’s affected his career. “I won’t kiss any other woman because these lips are meant for one woman,” McDonough said of his wife.

... his stance on sex scenes got him “fired from Scoundrels,” which aired on ABC from June to August 2010 before it was canceled. McDonough had been cast on the show but was replaced by another actor after three days, reportedly because he wouldn’t film sex scenes with the show’s star, Virginia Madsen.

It's ACTING, Neal, not an affair. More to the point, he's talking about kissing, not a nude sex scene. I could probably understand his unwillingness to participate in the latter, but the former is just silly.

We saw this in 1957 when Pat Boone refused to Kiss Shirley Jones in "April Love." Boone has since taken the position that he had nothing against kissing in general, or kissing Jones in particular, but hadn't known the kiss was part of the script, and hadn't asked his wife if she was OK with it. He later kissed other actresses in other films.

McDonough, whose work I enjoyed in "Band of Brothers" is definitely limiting his career options. It's his choice, but he shouldn't whine about it.
