I like to save up a series and watch it one go.
With Game of Thrones I kept forgetting who was who and where they were, after a week or 2.
By the way, nothing gets resolved so far in the books, the author planned the story arc over 7 novels, only 5 have been printed
and in all of them, the characters roam about for reasons the reader easily forgets ( maybe the author, too...who knows)
but on the screen, it is interesting to see all the people and places they are roaming among.

and with Game of Thrones I have to watch each episode twice. Then when it's time for next season to be released I have to re-watch the he previous season first because I'm afraid I won't remember everything in the previous season.

So yes, I'll probably be binge watching House of Cards because I have no self control with things like that.
