Survivor Worlds Apart- Episode 2 discussion thread

So creepy is a bad enough character trait to get you booted from an island. I hope Dan learns this lesson, because he is getting close to creepy.

So we start off with the Blue colors and Dan claiming he lost his man panties in the water, so he has to walk around in a shirt. I think Survivor would have shown this if it was true, so I have my doubts, but who knows for sure. I mean why would he wear such insane underpants to the game unless he wanted them to be a part of his game. Strong boxer briefs that can be worn as shorts make far more sense. Dan is getting creepy. Meanwhile, Mike is taking his place for crazy player as he can not stand it when anyone sits and does not work. Mike wants work nonstop. The others want to toss a basketball coconut into a box, but Mike tells them all to work and get firewood.

Meanwhile, survivor is becoming a nudist camp. Max at camp white collar take dips in the buff. Shirin likes to do dishes bottomless, which was funny and maybe a little gross. Put on some pants when washing the dishes, please. Then strip down as much as you want. Nudity was going on at camp hippie too. Hali and Jenn went skinny dipping and Nina felt like they excluded her because she was deaf. But the real issue at camp hippie was Vince being creepy toward Joe, who is clearly the best physical player on the team. Vince thinks Joe steamrolls his ideas around camp. This sets up the tribe for Team Vince, with Nina and Will on his side, against Team Joe, with Hali and Jenn on the other side.

The challenge was again both immunity and reward, with the big old box of fishing gear to the winner. The challenge is INSANE!!! They have to swim to a series of platforms, maneuvering round buoys through a rope winding around a climbing obstacle and swimming obstacle. After the end of the rope, they have to swim to another platform, and take what looked like 15-20 foot basketball shots into a basket (lucky for Mike blue collar was practicing). No collar was rocking early with a little lead over blue collar and a bigger lead of white collar. But vince hit a wall and slowed up. Joaquin was a beast and got white collar back into it. Then he showed why he is the best baller in his office as he hit all the shots fast, to win. Blue collar was close. No collar could not make a single basket.

So, at and before tribal its Vince v. Joe. But Vince seems to have figured out how to win. since Joe's team has to split the votes, thinking that they have the votes of Joe, Will, Hali and Jane, they will go 2 for vince, 2 for Nina, and if either plays the idol, will vote the other out on the revote. Will tells Vince and Nina this, so if they all vote for teh same person, it will be 3-2 and they will stay in power and control the game. Then vince and Nina make a huge error, mostly Nina. Vince in his creepy crazy way, tells Nina he wants her to talk to Will about his health and if he can stay in the game. Seriously, why. Then Nina tells him in such a bad way, it makes him think Vince is completely against him. Will made his choice and Vince became the second voted out.

Bye Creepy Guy. I hope Jenn is happy. I would have voted out Jenn, but we will see how it goes.

That Joe has a Baston Rab feel to him, and his loyal minions are lining up.

It may be too early to tell, but so far the teams seem to be creating some fairly strong alliances and taking out top rivals, which can't be good for team survival. With all the animosity, Blue Collar hasn't made it to council so we have yet to see if they will retain their strength and vote out the weak, or continue the trend.

I would have voted out Will ("Water is the black man's kryptonite," he reminded everyone). So which group has the Social Darwinists? Maybe survival of the fittest is ingrained (beaten?) into the Blue Collar tribe and they will strive for group strength.

That's what I think, and I have been wrong for 29 previous seasons, which is why I enjoy "Survivor." I even thought Richard Hatch would pay his taxes and never go to jail. That's how long and how wrong I have been!

I used to see if I could pick the winner, and I did pick Yul in his season just based on the preview, but usually I have no idea who has what it takes. Still love the show though.

He might've made good television, but he was hard to watch. That scene where he wanted some kind of confession/validation from Joe about the shelter was seriously weird. Nina isn't killing it at the social game either. Even if the two younger women were excluding her—which, has Nina ever WATCHED Survivor? Of course the young glom onto one another and think anyone over 30 is icky—you don't confront them and whine about it and put them on the defensive. And I think that telling Will it was Vince who was worried about Will's health was classic passive-aggression. I don't think I'll have to waste any karmic energy wishing for her to go. She'll take care of that herself soon enough.

Thanks, dr. strangelove, for posting these reviews. You do us a great service! I look forward to them every season.

Question: why would Joe think that Nina or Vince might've had the idol? Did I miss something?

I assume it was edited, but if I were any of them, I would be openly looking for it. Even as a ploy, it can work. Had she been able to keep Will in the plan, it would have worked because Joe and the girls were splitting the vote.

but Vince was just TOO creepy to stay! And had a huge ego and paranoia to boot.

And you are right about Nina. This is the way it always goes on Survivor. Her best strategy would have been to befriend a younger person and try to get to know them on a personal level. Remember Tina? Tina had a way of being a friend while nurturing at the same time.

And like you said, you cannot whine about it because that's just a bigger turnoff. I think real life is a bit like that!

he had a physical likeness (to the actor, Ty Burrell), and he had Phil's dorky, clumsy intensity…but then he never did anything endearing to redeem himself, the way Phil always manages to do, lol.

I actually could see Vince coming back in a future season, if he's smart enough to do what some contestants have done, use a different approach. Write himself better as a character, so to speak.
