Survivor Worlds Apart- Episode 6 discussion thread

Another EPIC blindside!!! I love it when its a blindside, and it was a blindside to me. I thought it was Joe, 100%. Awesome!!!

The episode started with Shirin upset that Max is gone and amazed that Carolyn and the others dislike her. She wonders if its too late for her (yes it is) Shirin thinks its like high school where the pretty people made fun of her, but its not her looks they do not like, its her annoying habits and random comments (plus the nakedness).

Over at blur collar, Rodney is starting to turn on his alliance with Dan and Mike. He tells Joaquin that he wants one of them to win. He is excited to be in a "bromance." He is so annoying.

At the reward challenge, its a race up a tower and through an small obstacle course, then its using a giant crossbow to launch sandbags at targets. Reward is a trip to a turtle sanctuary to see sea turtles come to the beach and lay eggs. (this is one of the reward trips I would really like to do). They also get lunch with mac and cheese and beef stew. Orange falls behind, but Rodney misses a few targets and Jenn nails her first launch to tie it up. Its tied at 5-5 after Mike, Carolyn, Shirin and Will all hit quickly. Jenn then hits her first shot and wins for Orange. Jenn is really rocking these challenges.

Back and blue camp, Joaquin finds Sierra alone and tries to get her to join with him, Rodney and Tyler to oust Joe. Rodney comes over and tries to smooth things over with her, but he is about as good at this as Dan. I truly feel for Sierra, she is on her second tribe with idiots. I suspect she will be better once they merge. Mike and Rodney both talk about throwing the challenge to oust Joe. This is so stupid.

The immunity challenge was maybe the funniest moment of the season. Its pretty easy. They pull a curtain and you get to look at it to decide the order of certain objects, then set up objects in that order. Whoever does it first wins. In no time, its 2-2. Mike is up against Kelly, who was his closest ally before the switch. It turns out Kelly is the dumbest player ever and even though Mike is telling her how to win, She can't get it right. Finally Mike has to tell her that he will set his up but switch two items and all she has to do it change them. Finally she does it and Orange is safe.

Back at camp, Rodney and Mike agree to vote out Joe. Mike then goes and tells Dan that he doesn’t trust Rodney. Mike tells Joe and Dan that Sierra will go with them to vote how they want. Dan tries to smooth things over with her and again pissed her off. I think Sierra has to decide who she hates more, Dan or Rodney, and screw the alliance of the guy she hates most. So its Joe, Dan and Mike voting Joaquin and its Rodney Joaquin and Tyler voting Joe. Sierra again has a tough call to make.

Tribal was not too exciting. Both sides thought they had it locked up. After its Joaquin, Rodney is shocked. He can not believe it. Sierra looks happy and Joe clearly thought he was toast. I was certain she was not going to work with Dan, who is just dumb and mean to her. but I guess she truly hates Rodney more.

good episode.

After pointing out (to the camera) throwing immunity challenges rarely works, then he seriously commits to throwing the challenge to his alliance partner on the other team, and then smoothly breaks his 'team alliance' by recruiting Sierra, who despises Dan and can't be too fond of Mike, either.

The obvious bromance alliance between Joaquin and Rodney targeted them over lone Joe. Joe got lucky.

It was good to see the women triumph over the men all around. My daughter watches with me, and she was ecstatic that the women and Will beat the brawn, and then Sierra made the unexpected game-changing choice. Even Mike gave his game to a trusted female partner.

Maybe gender class trumps all!

Rodney is going to be pissed so why keep him? Joaquin can still be kept on your side after getting rid of Rodney. And though Sierra still went with the plan, it feels like it would have been easier to convince her and let her know they were serious (and not just using her) if they gave up Rodney who is clearly the biggest a-hole of the group.

I agree that it was a good episode. The look on Rodney's face was priceless. And I think he really does believe he's smart.

He has stated the other players are "hicks". His pseudo sophistication is what the others find annoying. He has only lasted this long because the others know he is a given. He will be voted off when there are no better targets. Yes, the look on Rodney's face almost had me LOL.

I was disappointed it was going to be Joe, then BLAM! So you're right, GREAT blindside of us all. Loved this ep!

I think (along with Jeff talking up how don't blue collars stick together?) it was Mike who persuaded Sierra. He sounded sincere at tribal, and the hug was good to do too. Dan is a idjit. Telling Sierra to close her mouth and open her ears. That's what he should do. Upon reflection, Joaquin was the right choice. Not as annoying as Rodney, but still a little slimy, thus untrustworthy. Mike's shaping up to be pretty savvy. When Sierra(?) pointed out that Rodney was going to blow a gasket, he said So let him blow a gasket. I think Mike has correctly identified Rodney as a beta male, despite how he thinks of himself. My bet is he gloms onto Mike now, try to be his devoted second. And Mike will humor him.

Rodney's dumbfounded look was a joy to watch. Somebody should make a gif of that, it would go viral. Perfect example of the Dunning-Kruger effect. LOLOLOLOL RODNEY

hold themselves to a higher standard.

Well, I think one just did.

Did you hear him talking about spending the money? They wanted to party with some wild women. Where did that higher standard go?

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Rodney. I hope your days are numbered, too.

I can't wait to hear him bellow and bluster on the next episode. It will be priceless.

The slimy guys are getting eliminated quickly this season. That is great.

I went to school with some guys who think there should be two classes of women. A class that remains virgin and pure until marriage, going home and studying at night and hanging out with the girls. And then another group that will sleep with him and all his friends all the time. When he is ready he wants to marry one of the pure ones, then still cheat on her with the other class whenever he wants. He thinks women exist to serve his needs, whether it be a woman with a "higher standard" to marry or one with a "lower standard" to party with.

Its sad. In the end, I would say any woman must have low standards to consider spending time with a guy like him. He is the bottom rung on the ladder. Its pretty easy to find a better man.

but oddly satisfying as far as who gets the boot.

I HATE HATE HATE when anyone throws a challenge. I just despise it. The goal of Survivor is just to last another day. Why risk the fate of anyone if you don't have to?

However, this season seems to have more players willing to switch alliances quickly than past seasons where they'd follow along like sheep just to keep the numbers. That sounds contrary to what I posted above doesn't it, lol?

I feel like they are less patient to keep an annoying player around even if that player was a strong one.

You NEVER want to have to go to tribal council!!! You just can't predict what is going to happen. So throwing the challenge is just nuts, besides being lame, imo. I guess it's just that some people are so arrogant or sure of themselves they really do think they are controlling the game. DUMB!

During the immunity challenge when it came down to Mike and Kelly my husband said 'Oh, she's a cop, she'll have really good memory for the details'. After, we decided that maybe her blow to the head did her more harm than we thought. She was really bad!

Yes, we need a gif of Rodney at TC, with his head going back and forth like he was at a tennis match. Completely clueless. I'm so glad Joe dodged the bullet this time. He's my favorite so far, but he really seems to have a huge target on his back. I hope he can find an idol or will be really good at individual challenges. I'd love to see Rodney gone asap but he might end up being the goat they want to take to the end, if they can refrain from killing him before that.

I was certain it would be Rodney. Still trying to figure it out but I am certain there are good reasons to do it this way, probably numbers but......

I kept wondering why Kelly was not able to beat Mike when he was throwing it to Kelly. She might be dumb, she might be head injured but I really do not believe any of that. She is a cop and aren't they trained to observe and remember details? Maybe that is just on TV shows and movies. I was wondering if she just simply did not want to be "rescued". It would offend me if I were her. I don't really think he was trying to throw it to rescue her totally, he wanted tribal to get his ally numbers up I think....I know nothing but I do know I would have kept losing until we were down to 3 items. I would hate being "rescued" when I felt confident in myself to win on my own merits.

The other funny thing about this show was the conversation Rodney had with Sierra. What caught my ear was him telling her how to vote and explaining the reason she should do it that way was because it would make a great story she could tell her friends and family about for the next 30 years. He reminds me of my brother. His (my brother) life is so dismal and ruined that he lives by stories and the thrill of being a sports guy in high school. Yep, one of those where high school 40 years ago is the high point . I don't know what Rodney's life is like but if that is how he sees all of this, creating stories to tell the I kind of feel sorry for him OR I really dislike him for being one of those jerks who spend their time boring you over and over again with their prowess in life. Most likely it is the latter because I strongly dislike the guy.

My 2 cents. Hoping Joe continues. He is the only male there that I really like. Tyler is still an unknown but he is thinking and smart I think. Still pegging Tyler for final 3 at least. Loving the women and their strength. Loving that they are relying on themselves more rather than being reliant on the strong men who are needed for challenges thus becoming followers rather than leaders.
