did it get better? I was pretty excited about it because I loved the books long ago. I thought the acting was kinda awful and the actors all looked like they were only there because of their looks.

I would like to hear about it. I remember really loving the books. I read them at a time in my life when escape lit was the best thing in the world. I always wanted to go back and read them again.

but I'm totally hooked. I love Manu Bennett he was in the Starz original Spartacus as well as Arrow. I watch(ed) both.

I'll give you all that they could have gone better with some of the casting. But some are right on point, I think. For instance, I think the rover girl casting is great, but the girl that plays the princess is meh.

There's a chance I just got hooked on the story...lolol. I never read the books, but I wish I had. It's the type of thing I'd like.

but never got past the second one. I grew out of my sword-and-sorcery phase.

I tried the first four episodes of the series, but just can't get past that. It feels like "teenagers save the world". I'm too old for this.

we all love different things! I am hooked on Survivor, I think only because I watched the first bunch of seasons with my boys who are now long gone from my home. I can't really think of any other reason but hooked I am.

I loved the books and I read so many others along those fantasy genres. I was home with children and did not want to read about strife in real life or politics and it had to be something I could put down and not get back to for a while so I read all the books like these that I could find.

They are fun. I am glad you like the show. I may give it another shot.

My husband loves Survivor. My tastes are encompass just about everything..lol. Fantasy/paranormal is one of my favorite things to watch & read.

If you get back to it, let me know what you think.

I have bizarrely eclectic tastes. I watch NCIS and Blue Bloods and various British sitcoms with my mom, and on my own, I watch Galavant and Agent Carter and Doctor Who and Madam Secretary and The Mysteries of Laura and every over-costumed British drama ever shown on PBS. I have no right to judge!

I watch all the NCIS's, Blue Bloods, I have Agent Carter on my to watch list, I watch Madam Sec., love Orphan Black, Wentworth Prison (that's an Australian show via NetFlix).

I'm the first one to admit I watch entirely too much tv. Ridiculous..lol. I enjoy movies, tv, and books.

I didn't think you were judging....

I've been jaded on "sword and sorcery/fantasy literature" since reading Tolkien, but "The Shannara Chronicles" has combined that entire derivative genre with a hell-of-a-thought-out SF apocalyptic mythology (also derivative, of course).

Fairly good production values and CGI! The acting is mainly MTV kiddies, but that is what the characters are, so I'll buy it.

There is a method to the madness!

*SPOILER* - the last episode where the humans were talking about "we used to journey among the stars" and then watched a 'clip' from an old TV show, with an 'elf-like' character they booed! - that was genius!!

Maybe I'm not all that jaded after all!
