Walking Dead this evening - HUGE SPOILER ALERTS FOR SHOW AND COMICS

I have to say I'm disappointed that Denise was the one who ended up with the crossbolt through the eye. Ever since Daryl had his crossbow stolen, I was waiting for Abraham's ticket to be punched.

Anyone think this could mean Glenn is going to be spared the business end of Negan's girl Lucille as well? There's plenty of characters from the main cast still alive who were dead at this point in the comics, who could "sub in" and not deviate too much from the original story.

Tara - never existed in the comics
Daryl - never existed in the comics
Carol - would have died at the prison
Sasha - never existed in the comics (although she seems to be taking some on aspects of Andrea who never died in the comics)
Morgan - would have died when the walls came down in Alexandria
Abraham - would have died by crossbow bolt tonight

Personally, I think Maggie's character in the comics develops a lot after Glenn's death, and Glenn looking at the Polaroids in the previous episode is a creepy bit of foreshadowing. I still think this could be his final season.

But on the other hand, if the writers aren't going to save Glenn why would they save Carol, Morgan and now Abraham?

No other character would get that visceral emotional impact - that real 'we are the walking dead' moment that drives the show.

Daryl and Carol - fan faves - would be shocking, but would piss off a lot of fans who might feel Negan, Lucille and Glenn have that moment coming. "It is written."

On the other hand, Daryl and Carol arguably 'have it coming.' They've done a lot in the karmic universe where it could be argued the worm will turn. Also, both actors have opportunities ahead where after all these years they could be ready to move on.

Since they are not so faithful to the comics, and there has been an awful lot of foreshadowing around all of those big three characters - and Glenn has 'died' already - our anxiety is now going through the roof. We will be watching. In "Lawrence of Arabia" Lawrence pointed out, "Nothing is written!"
