1. Looks good!

Stunning scenery and a spooky plot! Thanks! (Kind of heavy on the violence, but it is HBO.)

2. And Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood!

I'll be watching for reviews. If the series doesn't get trashed, I'll catch it sometime. I don't have an HBO subscription so I'll have to look at options.

3. Watched it. Interesting take on the original....

The original creepy robot revolt in the movie was considered to be terrifying.

The new premise in the TV series is the robots are a sympathetic life form that we have tossed into the clutches of "rich assholes" who vacation from the office by acting out their most extreme psychopathic fantasies.

Expect criticism from rich assholes claiming they aren't really like that.

4. Delve deeper into the new "Westworld"

Ohhhh, noooo - this ain't yore father's Westworld!

How HBO's Westworld indicts its own viewers

On the surface, the park theme writer offers:

"Our most skilled guests will find their way to the outer limits of the park, besting fearsome braves, seducing nubile maidens, befriending tragically ill-fated sidekicks, and of course, like all our best narratives over the years, our guests will have the privilege of getting to know the character they're most interested in: themselves."

But what "keeps us coming back" says the mastermind behind it all?

"A couple of cheap thrills. Some surprises. It's not enough. It's not about giving the guests what you think they want. It's not that simple. Titillation, horror, elation: They're parlor tricks. The guests don't return for the obvious things we do, the garish things. They come back because of the subtleties, the details. They come back because they discover something they imagine no one had ever noticed before. Something they've fallen in love with. They're not looking for a story that tells them who they are. They already know who they are. They're here because they want a glimpse of who they could be. The only thing your story tells me, Mr. Sizemore, is who you are."

5. I really wanted to like this show going in,

but so far, it has just not grabbed me. I remain unimpressed. There are just too many unanswered questions about the science, and that affects the integrity of the show for me. I am still watching in the hope that it will reel me in at some point. We shall see...
