Snowing in Arizona

Haven't been through Arizona in years, but the last time I drove through, I had to follow behind s snowplow in the mountains near Flagstaff. Looks like it's that time again:

5. I'm looking forward to seeing snow on the mountains

surrounding the Valley, but I don't see any yet. I'm going to go out now and look around from the end of my yard.

7. It's been snowing on and off but not sticking near the coast. The mountain passes are getting it.

The interstate by the summit was closed last night but WSDOT worked all night and got it going again. Kudos to those guys.

9. The snow pack is a lot less than it once was. Our area is adjusting and planning for warming.

We've lost glaciers and year around snowpack. It used to last through the summer months and the melt fed the rivers to power hydroelectric generators. The cold water also helped to keep the river temperature right for salmon spawning. Dams are coming down in order to stop the loss of salmon habitat, but it may be a losing battle.

The loss of the snow in the mountains (you can see that from the different cams you can choose above the picture) that the snow is not solid on those mountains, which they used to be. The ski industry has had some bad times here, too. A decade ago, some of the foothills kept a snow cap through the summer, even.

The state has pushed zero lawn watering and 'zeroscaping,' plants that don't need watering in the summer for many years. Studies showed that higher temperatures in the winter and the rest of the year round would cause rainfall instead of snow, which we need.

Our state government has been working to provide for the future, but as in all states, the Nordquists here are determined to starve the government and make it ineffective. I hate the Tea Party for what they are doing here.

12. SNOW IN SNOWFLAKE

My daughter lived in Snowflake which is named after Mr Snow & mr Flake. One of these guys loans Willard's great grandfather $1000 to get out of jail. The bastard took off for Mexico with his WIVES and never paid the money back.

13. I got to see the snow on the Mountains here in Tucson.

I got a lot of weird looks from people. It did not snow here in the valley, but was chilly. I was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans. My neighbors were bundled up. You see, being from Missouri, I am use to it feeling a lot colder due to the nasty windchills Joplin use to get.

But to see those snow covered peaks took my breath away! I love this state!
This is my first year in AZ. Can't wait to see more of the state!
