Related: About this forumWeather.com says Phoenix's temps over the next 10 days range between 107 and 112.
Has it always been that hot, or is this something relatively new?

Phoenix can for the most part handle the heat. It is places without A/C as standard that have the issues.

(38,437 posts)I don't think the end of the world is at hand, just a really hot week in a desert town.

(12,869 posts)It does not cool off at night as much as it used to. Plus the AC is pumping heat into the environment.

(27,995 posts)The humidity is very low, the skies are relatively cloudless and the temps soar. Typical mid-late June weather. Once the monsoon moves in, the humidity rises and the temps drop a bit, but the comfort factor is worse.
What does seem to be changing are the night temps. They are higher than when I was kid in the 60's and 70's. We have much more concrete and paving which is creating a heat island effect in the city.

(6,202 posts)were much cooler. My friends and I would even have sleep overs in the back yards. Now with a low in the high 80's or low 90's I don't know too many kids who sleep outside.
Paving the dirt roads and alley's may have helped somewhat to the effect you are talking about.
