Mark and I are heartbroken to learn of the death of Kayla Jean Mueller, a young Arizonan who used her freedom, energy, and talents to make people's lives better. In contrast to the hateful group that took her captive, Kayla stood for so much that is good in our nation and this world. Kayla’s generous spirit, and belief in the dignity of all people, was something her terrorist captors could not begin to comprehend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kayla’s family as they mourn their beautiful daughter.
