Bernie in Tucson

Just got back from the Bernie Sanders rally at Reid Park in Tucson. Went with Doorling Dorter Rachel, who lives less than a block from the park. We walked from her house....wise choice, considering the horde that was descending on Demeister Amphitheater. 11,000 at the start, and more coming in throughout. Wonderfully mixed crowd: old folks, young ones for their first election, aging Hippies like me, Hispanic, Black, Muslims, lots of First Nations folks. The sort of crowd that would suggest that this was not a Republican rally. The lady doing the introductions was a member of the Tohono O'odham Nation. Following her, a brilliant young lady from the San Carlos Apaches who lives at the Oak Flats land that is being stolen for a foreign-owned copper mine. Next, a cute little ten-year old kid whose family is being broken up by the immigration laws. Then, to get things off to an official start, and lead into Bernie, we had a twin girls from Nogales giving an a capella rendition of the National Anthem that gave this cynical old Hippie goose bumps. Twins can do things with vocal harmonies that just are not possible!
Did I mention that most of us were standing....even this lamed-up old guy?
When Bernie hit the stage, the uproar must have been audible for miles. He talked for over an hour, pulling no punches on everything from gun control to the savage grip that the 1% has on the country. He was interrupted by cheers for his policies, and boos for such things as the Kochs and Citizens United. With his Brooklyn honk, he spoke genuinely to everything that we, as Americans, believe.
Bernie has my support, and that of at least many thousands of Tucsonans.

I'm betting the AZ Star has almost nothing. Donald Duck gets a few thou in Phoenix and gets almost a half a page. Bernie draws 11,000+ in Phoenix and crickets from the local corporate media. The revolution will not be televised. Bernie gets over 11,000 in Tucson and I guarantee we won't hear about it in the "news". The corporate media benifits by billions from Ciizens United. They get their profits slashed by Bernie, Sorry, you can't ignore us much longer.

But thanks for reporting! I tried to watch the feed last night but never got connected right. I will send another donation later this week to make up for not getting there!
