Congressman Raśl Grijalva Jumps Ship, Endorses Hillary Clinton for President

Arizona's most liberal Congressman, Rep. Raúl Grijalva, is now endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

Grijalva made headlines this past October when he became the first national politician to endorse Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and since then, the Tucson Congressman has been a vocal supporter and surrogate for his candidate: going to rallies and speaking engagements, penning op-eds, giving media interviews.

But with Clinton having all but secured the Democratic nomination, Grijalva announced in a written statement this morning that it was time for the party to unify behind her in order to defeat Donald Trump.

"For all of us who supported Bernie from the beginning, whether we considered ourselves progressives or independents or just Americans tired of being on the outside looking in, the most important thing now is to beat Donald Trump in November," Grijalva wrote. "To use a word that's been thrown around a lot lately, now is the time to unify."

down to his last 200,000 stalwart acolytes. Can't keep his campaign going very long on only their donations.

Why not show a little class, at least in the campaign's death throes? Show respect for a formidable opponent and recognize a historical landmark.

Bernie seems literally unable to do that. In his way, he is as much of a loose cannon as Trump though, so even if he did campaign for Hillary, he might be harming more than helping.

He has missed the real revolution, IMO.

Way back in March, I dared to draw parallels between the Trump and Sanders phenomena in the protected HRC Group. Nevertheless, my OP was summarily hidden.

The similarities are even more apparent three months on, as both the Trump and Sanders campaigns persist in doing battle with their respective putative parties.

some Clinton supporters might try to "Show respect for a formidable opponent and recognize a historical landmark" as well.

I would appreciate it if everybody would keep the nasty stuff to GDP while it still exists.

Thanks.

as it is AZ news, I am disappointed in most of the negative replies. not sure what I can do about it, but felt the need to express my opinion as a host and Sanders supporter.
