Mayor Stanton was among the voices we heard from in the portion of the ceremony honoring the venues.
"Tonight," he said, "is about celebrating some great talent from Arizona and also about celebrating the ability of music to bring us all together. Music heals. It speaks to us in good times and in bad. After the event of this past week, it's reassuring to be at an event with artists who have inspired fans all across the world."

The spotlight shifted to another local legend, Pat McMahon, who handled the induction, reminiscing about his own experiences at the venue and closing his remarks with a joke about "The Wallace and Ladmo Show."
"The bad news is, you still don't get a Ladmo bag," he toldHazelwood. "But this building is officially in the Hall of Fame.''

Before he started playing, Lofgren made a plea on behalf of his political ideals: "I love our community, I love our country and i just ask, please, let's all of us, let kindness, compassion and equality be our mantra. Remember, all men and all women are created equal. We need to look to each other and ourselves to heal our country and our problems, not our failed government. God bless Heather Heyer for standing up to hate. And to all the Nazis and the like, get the hell out of town, get the hell out of our country."
